Some good footage of probably my favourite bassist, Armand Sabal-Lecco, giving it some on a large bodied Alembic:

Funny, from the CD of this concert, I knew it was unmistakably an Alembic, but I always assumed it was the wine-red stained small-bodied one I'd seen him pictured with a few times. Didn't know he had one of the large bodied ones, too!

But there again, when the occasion is Paul Simon's concert in Central Park, then you can probably afford more than just the one Alembic . . .!

Enjoy!

Its really great, I always thought Armand was predominently a fretless player but he sure bangs out the groove on that fretted series!

John, I think you may be thinking of Bakithi Kumalo, the guy who played on Graceland.

For those who didn't think the Baby Alembic can Thump THINK again. Vids are a bit out of sync but you'll get the message:

The sounds of Short Scale S2
You can call me Al:

If you can find this version: Paul Simon Live in Central Park, you'll hear the fastest Thumping not "double thumbing", Thumping I think anyone has done and it's done on guess what a Baby Alembic.

The sounds of the Long Scale S1

I like both vids , thanks !
What a great band, it seems to me that Paul Simon gives his Musicians room for self expression as well .

Armand sounds great ! Both Bass's have their own character but I can really hear the timbal difference on the long scale .
