I think Europas come with the purpleheart neck laminates as a standard feature, although you could order it without... Sorry to not respond earlier. My bass is an Essence (w/ serial number as such), with the Rogue/Europa electronics, and an Elan (I believe that's what Mica said before) headstock. It has great sound and versatility. One thing I like about the wood is that it has a "wider" flame pattern than most others I've seen (although it doesn't seem to show up real well on the picture). The only thing it's missing is a Series II to go with it! (One of these days, perhaps...) Ken
