I love this bass. I have to say it's the nicest bass I owned in over 40 years. Like all my basses I did some upgrade on this one making it both active and passive. The neck and tone of the Excel is amazing and the bass is well balance. I got interested in Alembic after buying a bass from a ebayer who said they was getting a Alembic. Well I'm at peace with myself and no more GAS for basses right now. Here a picture after the mod.

I'm curious... How did you did the mod, and what's the advantage of doing it? |
