Hi all,
the first two shots have already been seen here on the forum: the first one is the Sothebys shot and the second one had been posted by me previous.
What can I say... I found a new one:
Alembic V

JE with V old

JE with V new

See the difference?
There must have been at least TWO different V basses as well.....

Mmmmmmmmm ... isn't it possible that the were placed on a different location on the bass? Seen the "mask" round the PU on the top picture?
Just an idea?

It could be just an illusion, but the picture of the first bass seems like a shorter scale lenght too.

Paul or should I better say "The Mask or The Stocking" :-),
Michael,
yes I also thought about this about a replacement
of the pickups but then I had the same illusion like Michael. But maybe Paul TBO is right and he had the complete sectio PU/DUMMY/PU replaced and mounted closer together. ??

Any information would be highly appreciated...

Brother Michael!
Glad to here from you! How is the collection going?
Well, assume the SOtheby's shot is th emost recent one so the two other are older.
So I guess (!) that he asked to kinda "spread" the PU between Bridge and Neck. The bridge PU stayed on the same place but the other 2 shifted more to the neck.
About scale lenght, I am not an expert but seen the fact that the headstock is not an the other pictures we hav no point of "reference" to judge that part.

Oh-oh

If you look well now I think they COULD be different. I seems (SEEMS) that the sotheby pictured bass has a body in a much lighter colour that the two others. It seems (SEEMS) that teh 2nd color picture the bass-body is more Walnut-like or anyway a darker wood.
Again ...just thinking.

the MASK .....?????? nei-eih

Paul; the wood grain looks pretty similar to
me, especially noticeable around the controls.
The pickup ring in the Sothebys picture lends
credence to your idea that the pickup spacing
was spread toward the neck.

Dave,
yes I also noticed the similarity in the wood grain. It might be possible that the spacing was changed and a pickupring had to be mounted to close the open routings.....

The Mask, Michael, Oliver, Dave, etcetera...,
The grain does appear to be the same. I'm with Dave and Oliver on this one...

Great to see this beauty in action! One close-up @ 2:17 and some other great shots of the overall bass (considering the vid is soft), thanks for sharing this Oliver.
