Hello, not sure if this is the right spot to post this, but here's a pic of my Aria Pro II SB basses all with Alembic pickups and electronics. On the left is an Aria Pro Black n Gold II which had a dead original pickup, so I put in some Alembics I took from a broken Aria Pro LTD. The middle bass (which I just sold) is an Aria Pro II SB-LTD which came with factory installed Alembic pickups/electronics. It had a Jason Newsted inspired Graffix sticker, which he had on one of his Alembics many years ago. There was another thread I started on these LTD models a couple years ago. Mica said Alembic had a short relationship with Aria in the early '90s, supplying them with pickups. I think this model might have been inspired by Rudy Sarzo as he was playing Arias with Alembic guts back then. On the right is an Aria SB-R60 with a single Alembic p'up and tone filter. I also had LED battery indicators installed on the Black n Gold and R60. The Alembic pickups really sound great in all three of the basses (naturally!). I can't quite get the same tone as my '83 Spoiler, though, and I'm wondering if it's because the electronics may be a little more basic in these basses. These electronics only have one trim pot and do not have a Q Switch, which I was hoping to add at some point. If anyone can tell me how to install a Q switch for these electronics please let me know! Thanks. Larger pic here: http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd117/vintagejapanbass/Aria%20Pro%20II%20Black%20n%20Gold%20II/100_2732.jpg Also here's the link for the Aria Pro II SB-LTD catalog page. It states these are "AXY/AE-1" pickups. http://ariausa.com/Archive/cp_apII_1989_03.html (Message edited by Alembic83 on March 19, 2010) (Message edited by alembic83 on March 19, 2010) |

Cool! I still regret selling my Black n Gold LP copy, I've yet to play an BnG bass , I can only imagine that they are easy to play and sound wonderful with the Alembic P'ups. |

Thanks, yes I'd have to say the Aria with Alembics is 'the next best thing' after the real deal. The SBs are really nice basses in their own right, with the Alembic pickups making them even better. A BnG LP copy must have been nice. I think all the Black n Gold models are very classy looking... |

You can order a Q switch from Alembic; it comes with instructions. Tell them you have AE-1 electronics. |
