I think you are going to need to keep a polishing cloth in your back pocket. One of the prices for owning a black car or instrument is that they show dust and finger prints as no other surface does. This contrasted beauty should easily be worth the hassle, though.

It went out on it's first gig yesterday night and was great. The amp I was using wasn't the best for it though but playability was wonderful. I kind of thought when I bought it that the close string spacing would be a negative point for finger playing or slapping but it's proved to be much more comfortable so far. I've always felt the balance of the Europa is fantastic compared to the few other basses I've played and this is no exception. Hopefully I will be on a gig soon with my own rig rather than the house back line so I can hear better what the bass is able to produce live.

Thanks Markus, I'm so glad you decided to sell this bass. Mica & the alembic team. Respect due again big time.....!!!!!

Jazzy, this is a lot like my Elan Five. I prefer
the 'classic taper' inasmuch as it almost feels as if the neck is taper-less. In other words, the strings feel virtually parallel up the fingerboard with very little flare-out up top (2" nut by 2.5" 24th fret). I could never get use to those w-i-d-e fingerboards.

I have been playing it a lot since preparing for that last gig. I still haven't got used to making quick tone changes on it like I do on my SC bass but I know that it took me a lot of frustrating months to consistently find the tone I want at any particular time, so I'm enjoying the ride. I've also got comfortable with the colour now :-)

I'm one of those who prefer to see the woods, but gold on black is a perfect match. This Bass is extremely beautifull, congrats!

Mario, I also prefer to see the woods on alembics. However but this bass was just what I wanted except the colour and was about a year old and in brand new condition so I couldn't let it go just for one thing. :-)

Here are a couple of very mug shots of me in my role as a bass guitar stand for my Europa/Elan. :-)

A funk band who had some big hits in the 1980's called The JALN band have decided to get back together and asked me to play bass for them.

We had some studio photo's taken a couple of weeks ago and here are some that show off the bass best.

Beautiful bass.I think it would be cool to have its reverse,White w/gold hardware. It would have to be a very "white " white, not cream or blue. What a pair that would make =)

Yeah I can see that especially if the pickup covers and knobs and switches were also the same very white or gold. It would look very ...... posh indeed.

I wonder if Alembic have ever got standard knobs and switches in white or any other colour for that matter.?

Man, that is a nice bass! I always favored black or white basses when I was younger (all my basses were). Although my tastes have expanded, I still have a soft spot.Lucky man you are Jazzy......

Thanks wish bass, it is a great bass to play and sounds amazing. I guess thats kind of expected. I'm using it more at the moment since joining 70's 80's funk band called JALN Band. Check them out on you tube, there are some fun 70's clips of the band on there from their appearances on Top of The Pops. They had quite a few disco/pop hits in the late 70's and have reformed.

I've left this band about a month ago.
Musical differences... :-)

But we are still great mates.
