What ever happened to the original buzzard basses (Dragon wings) that you were making for JE before he passed? I understand you were working on them when he left. Who has them ?

To my knowledge only the design was already there but no physical instrument.
This turned first up with Rogers design of the Dragon Wing which was very close to the original design of Alembic. The original design was named Dragon Claw, not Dragon Wing and of course not and never Buzzard......

Oliver is right, we were working on the design, but never got a chance to show the drawings to JE.

Dragon Claw is the name of the peghead. After Roger saw the sketches, he made some changes and sketches for his own bass. We then developed it into an actual working template and made his bass, then the rest of the Dragon Wing basses.

My mom declined several times JE's request to make a replica of the Buzzard bass. She just really doesn't dig that shape at all. The idea of the Dragon Wing is to make a bass that was Buzzard enough for John and Alembic enough for Susan.

Wow ! That's cool, The dragon wings do look alot like the buzzards.....respect though for the Masters of wood, it's too bad you couldn't make these for JE for real!!!

what is the difference between the exploiters and spyders ? and have you made many 6 string exploiters?

Exploiters have a slightly different body design than Spyders. Exploiters have more of a 'traditional Explorer' body style. Spyders have slightly a slightly lankier body shape, a longer body near the top where the neck meets the body. I don't think there are many 6 string Exploiters, however, if you go to my thread 'Dragon Wing and others' there is a pic of my 6 string Exploiter.

hey Guys: Let me appologize for the buzzard comment, After closely looking at the Buzzards and the dragon wings, they really are quite different...I actually dig the wings better to be honest!!!! as specially that quilted maple series I in there.

Peace!
