Welcome to the club. That sure is a fine looking bass you've got there. How do you like it?

Enjoy,

Nice Orion indeed! Congratulations, my first Alembic was an Orion too. Be warned: the addiction starts right there! After just 4 months my Orion has made me buy a girlfriend to keep him company...

Good luck & have fun!

The color looks very exotic; what type of wood is used on the top laminate? I purchased my first Alembic, an Excel in December 2003 and in less than two months later, I had acquired an old Spoiler. Now I'm looking for a fretless. There nothing (IMHO) like a good old-fashioned addiction.

Enjoy!

Like you and The_Mule, my first Alembic was also an Orion. I had a custom built Orion 5 made just a couple of months after I bought the first one. It's in this group under The Big Kahuna thread. Welcome to the club flaxattack, the addiction has begun!

no addiction here mule- i know my limits...
and my wallet- besides, now that i have the orion..
i can save for a boat!
however- since i work with stain glass and am going to start making an irredescent dragonfly to put on either the lower horn (small) or above the controls and let the tail go under the strings between the pick ups (bigger)
WILL NOT COUNTERSINK IT into the body- just place it on it
if i decide to countersink- will bring it to an experienced carpenter

Well, I was sure I knew my limits too. What a mistake that turned out to be! But I'm certainly not trying to drag you into that 'downward spiral', be strong my friend, be strong!

...must resist the temptation...

you guyz were right!
i am beginning to work with val and mica on a custom

rogue
32"in scale
small heart omega shape
purpleheart neck (thinkin bout ebony)
neck width? toughie- thats what we are working on.... leaning twds mark kingish 1.875nut 2.375 24th fret- want the strings close together for my itsy bitsy fingers!
series 1 electronic add on
body wood? maybe coco- depends on the next monthly special- i could take that add on $$$ and go for the ebony neck as val says to put the money there as thats where 95% of the sound is going to come from
vermillion body is a possibility also...

the creep at nj guitar where i bought the orion told me he would give me half back on the orion - yea like i might take $1300 for it... fuck him- will use another dealer
hope all is well
