Senior management and I saw Paul Simon at the Fillmore last night. Paul plus an eight piece band that went through at least 15 different guitars, 3 different basses, percussion, several horns, and even a washboard and accordion. It was definitely different seeing one of the drummers sitting on his throne playing guitar! Paul's voice isn't what it used to be, but it's still good and the songs are still wonderful. Boy, it was a different experience from when I saw him last at the Greek Theater in Berkeley. Made me realize how much of the artist/audience connection was just lost when rock got big and moved into arenas. Admittedly though, standing for an hour and a half ain't as easy as it used to be!

"No I would not give you false hope
On this strange and mournful day
But the mother and child reunion
Is only a motion away, oh, little darling of mine

I can't for the life of me
Remember a sadder day
I know they say let it be
But it just don't work out that way
And the course of a lifetime runs
Over and over again

No I would not give you false hope
On this strange and mournful day
But the mother and child reunion
Is only a motion away, oh, little darling of mine"

--- a little Mother's Day thought from Rhymin' Simon --- my favorite of his -- just thought I'd drop back by for a while on this 'strange and mournful day' -- drr
