Check this out; and yes, there are just three people in the video and two of them are playing percussion. The third guy is playing the other parts. The instrument has three bass strings and 5 guitar strings.

Yep, that's Charlie... I've been a fan for several years and I've had the opportunity to see him live a few times. Always an impressive performance. He recently opened for Keller Williams at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall here in upstate NY, the crowd was very tame, with the exception of myself and my friends dancing and cheering from the balcony :-)

How nice to see Keller Williams not at a music festival - around here he's always on a bill with tons of others. Hard to understand how a crowd can be tame with Keller and Charlie on stage. Their loss I'd say.

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but Adam, I live in Troy. We'll have to get together when my Series II arrives?

Shawn - sounds cool with me. I'm always up for a jam. I read in your profile you used to be in the Schematics? Do you recall seeing/hearing about a band called Monkey Gone Mad? I used to play sax in MGM and I *think* we shared a bill at some point.
And Mica - We were shocked, to say the least, that such a vast majority of the crowd chose to sit still and be silent throughout the show. When Keller hits a string, my feet need to move.

Dave - thanks for the link. Neat stuff! Fanned frets, too, which is probably the only way to pull that kind of creation off.

I had heard clips on Amazon of him doing covers of the Marley album NATTY DREAD, and it didn't impress me enough to buy it, but I just took a chance and ordered one of his other discs.

I have that Natty Dread Album from him and as good as it is, I didnt find that having the extra strings gave anything special to the sound of the album that he couldn't have got with a bass player.

Adam;
True 'nuff on the first point, but due to the gallons of free beer we used to get I honestly can't say I remember a Monkey Gone Anything. My sincere apologies.
Would love a jam, though, once I figure out what all the knobs do so I don't embarass myself too badly (grin).
