http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=4713&item=3729851730&rd=1 Six String fretless "Alembic style" Wishbass. God bless anyone making their own instruments, but this gallery is not my idea of what a bass should look like: http://www.wishbass.com/pages/943109/index.htm and: http://www.wishbass.com/pages/943110/index.htm Now, his prices are good considering the work he must put into them - has anyone played one? I see the ads in Bass Player all the time. EffClef

Try a search on www.talkbass.com - Wishnevsky/Wishbass is really in a class of his own, or so it seems. You get what you pay for, so expect not to get more than what you do pay for. One thing I remember from descriptions is that he actually gets a decent kind of sustain by keeping the neck real BIG. Other than that, nothing lines up properly (don't even think of ordering one with frets) and there's lots of glue all over the place. Again, this is comments from TalkBass, quoted from memory. |

Okay, this is weird. I swear that last night, or maybe this morning, I saw at least two or three other posts here prior to adriaan's, maybe a couple agreeing they looked tacky, another somewhat more generous... But what I see right now is the original from effclef, one by adriaan, and the Batman reference. Am I imagining things (possible, it's been a tough day), or did we lose some posts here somehow? |

Bob you're right - I had those posts go by in email also. I just wanted to say my original post was only to point out that the Wishbasses were something odd, something un-Alembic in many ways, and that I still found it interesting that someone could make basses himself in styles 100% different from everything out there. If someone at Alembic deleted them because we're trashing another "brand," I apologize. That wasnt my intent - I'd rather this whole thread be deleted than look bad for Alembic.com as something looking down on another brand. EffClef |

Be ready for a strange moment Eff, You've got two identical threads statrted. The second "Wishbass" thread is about 4 threads down in miscellaneous, and still contains the earlier comments. Like they said, we can talk amongst ourselves in this area. Mike (Message edited by dadabass2001 on June 14, 2004) |

Thanks for clearing that up. I didn't suspect censorship, thought maybe it was a technical glitch of some sort. |
