Your sister called... she wants her clothes back!!! Actually, I used to dress exactly like that in one of my late 70s early 80s band. Here is a pic of my last "serious" band: Lets keep this thread going!!! I know Art has a great pic of himself that everyone would be interested in seeing. |

I'm not that old but I was still kinda weird: 1981 - Assasin Late 80's Angel Marie Michael Band - she was blind and played like Jeff Healey (guitar on lap) - Dig the spider belt buckle and the 'gold' Italian Horn necklace W.T.F.?! The famous Dexter Bracket band: Oh and one more from the early 80's!!! A short while after this I got the second 15" cab for my Traynor stack!

"Johnny Quest," early 80's... I am second from left. This pic was shot in a back alley in Niles, CA by the drummers brother, who was a semi pro shooter at the time. Here he has just whipped out of his coat a Mickey Mouse camera, and said "Cheese." We all busted up, and he took the pic. Not with the Mickey Mouse camera though! |

Two for the record. First, Steppin' Stones from around '67, (1967, that is) me on the left with the '65 Jazz Bass I still have. I was 2 years old at the time... Second, Morningstar, Kansas City, around 1978. Playing the lead guitarist's '67 P-bass. Note edge of Moog Taurus pedals to left of house right flash pot cloud. Just for fun, a fan has this: www.kcmorningstar.com (Message edited by davehouck on January 13, 2011) |

1981 - Chicago area. My Peavey t-40 is upside down behind me. (I am on the right) We wanted to make it looked like a smashed pile of equipment, but actually carefully placed everything to avoid damage/scratches. We were punks, but also gear aficionados too! |

This stuff is just priceless ! I can still smell the old beer and cigarette smoke, hear somebody drunk over there, and see a stage full of Peavey and clear plastic drums and MXR and Morley pedals . . . Time to go back, somebody kill the jukebox ! My favorite 'we're gonna take a break' line: 'Gotta run back to the motel and check the traps!'. J o e y |

harald..the guitarist has a lonely wah pedal..how would the modern guitarists of today survive with just one pedal instead of the pedal boards which cover the whole stage! You lot are very brave showing these pics...mine went in the trash years ago(bad haircuts, bad dress sense and even bad music!!) |

Maybe not brave, but proud of what we all did to play the music. In my small town in Missouri, in 1967, there were two bands playing full time. I was in the keyboard band, my brother in the 2 guitar band. We rented the Legion hall and each of us took home $100 a night. More than I made when touring a national album release. Heady times indeed. That band from '67 is back together, playing benefits for the local causes. Thanks to all for posting. So very cool. Jon, we played out of Kansas City. Southwest MO would have been the ranch in Galena, KS. Probably played there 5-6 times a year if not more. Skip and Kenny would fire another band to give us a gig for the week end. What a rocking place. Always packed. Yes, the smell of cigarettes and beer, fighting in the parking lot, and the other 'things' that we did in the mid-late '70s Later, Hammonds Arena at SW Missouri University. Any other Alembic owners in the KC area? Sounds like a party to me... |

Here are a couple from 1992 when I was touring in the USA with a reggae band. Pic 1 is in orlando florida That guitar was a casio midi guitar controller MG510, and the pickups were pretty noisy when I got on a big stage so during my tour I picked up the strat. Pic 2 is in the bullring in Tijuana where we opened for Santana for two shows. The second is my trusted Fender Strat Ultra with an ebony board and lace pickups. A wonderful guitar. Me on guitar and Elias on bass. around 1978/79 Cimar (Gibson Marauder Copy) I loved that guitar, it had clear plastic see through pickups and later became the my pickup and wiring and switching explorations. Last one with my new(at the time) Ibanez SA400WN semi acoustic oh and that was my first car two door Ford Cortina 1300gls I was a big fan of the Blackbyrds at the time hence the dungarees. Jazzyvee |

That's me with my Pan Bass back in 79! This Fender Jazz copy, sounded better than the real thing. I talked much about this bass on past threads, so when one of my lady friends had sent me this picture, I was happily surprised to show this on this thread. "The way we were... WOW!" What a trip! to jon_jackson, went back and re-read your question and my former posts and decided I gave a lame answer. In the 60s, I was playing in Higginsville, 20 miles north of Warrensburg, 50 miles east of Kansas City. WTF geography lesson for most posters, but that's the correct answer. Still very cool to see all the posts. How many thousands of hours of music have been produced by all us bass players? Congrats to all of you. |

Terry, I think it was a 1971 Cortina and I bought it for my birthday in 1979 and sold it late in 1981. I bought that guitar in 1980 so that kind of dates the picture to between those years. I was still at school during 1974 -1976 and not an ASBO, joyriding, truant teenager posing with a stolen car hahaha. (for our non UK friends, ASBO = Antisocial behavior order) Jazzyvee |

jazzyvee...looked in good condition for a 79, as an ex Ford mechanic, they rotted from the floor upwards. I had the GL model which was a Fred Flintstone car..ie holes in the floor pan, I gave it to a mate to weld some plates on it when he worked at British Steel, when it got MoT'ed the examiner said was I planning driving over a minefield..my mate had welded 3/8" steel plate to it and I wondered why it didn't accelerate!! Those were the days.... |

Yep I had dodgy sills on that one eventually and the heater was always leaking and it was so bad that in winter it blew steam up through the vents which frosted the inside of the glass...!!! Not very good. Yeah those were the days you could do work easily on your own car. These days I can't even change the 6 spark plugs in my three cylinder smart car because the engine has to be removed to get them out....!!! Sometimes not everything that is new means progress. cozmik..they were usually a teenagers first car, that or the Mini. The engine bays were huge with this tiny engine in, not as jazzyvee says where most modern cars have two bonnets(hoods to you usa guys), the metal one on top and one inside the engine compartment. Progress mean you cannot touch them which = large garage service bills. |
