Thanks, I watched it already!. Oliver: I'm QUITE curious now... I did looked for the festival's homepage -one of the bands I'm playing in, FICCION, is also a Prog Rock band, and they are looking for festivals to play on, so I'm doing my share of homework- It came to my attention on the Night of the Prog homepage this comment: "13.07.2011: Thanks to all Bands - except MARTIGAN who didnīt stick to Agreements - " I am VERY wary of certain contractor's conditions and treatment to musicians and bands, so this raised an alert on me almost immediately. Would you mind on telling me more about the common conditions and agreements on these kind of festivals, just to know what to be aware of? Thank you very much in advance! | ||

WOW!. Shame on WIV, really. What an unfair way to treat musicians! Unfortunately, a handful of promoters haven't heard that we musicians keep their businesses alive, and that not everybody is dying to play on their events (even less if the payment is ZERO, which is becoming quite usual). We opened for ASIA a little more than a month ago, and had "the talk" with the promoter. We didn't got a FAIR payment, but we got paid nevertheless, but this had to be fought, and it shouldn't be. Thank you very much for the information, it is quite valuable for us to know. Just imagine traveling all the distance from Venezuela to NOTP to find this kind of surprises!!!. Fortunately, and once your statement is released -and read-, I don't think their words could really make no harm to your band's reputation -it reads from here more like a "Rock'nRoll bad boy" attitude, which is somewhat good!-. JC, well this goes on now for a week and it really stretches my nerves now. Everytime we or other persons that speak pro-Martigan post something on his site the posts are deleted immediately by him. If this goes on I think we will take the help of a lawyer... It is a real shame. BTW another band that should have played there (they are from Sweden) cancelled their gig one day before the festival as they also had the same problems and should have paid to pay there.) Oliver the music does sound great. You got a really talented group there. It truly is a shame that your band is being hassled by some zealous regulatory machine after Martigan provided them with the gift of music. Greed is a monster that is destroying humanity. |
