I know, I know, a Dano bass itself costs less than some cases we use for our Alembics. Still, I need a hard case for a Dano Longhorn (short scale) bass and can't seem to find one. Anybody have any ideas? |

Try Ed Roman's in Las Vegas. He supposedly acquired the rights to this line. Somewhat difficult to deal with, but I needed a case for a BC Rich Bich bass and he came through with a terrific one (and not cheap, either). I think how he deals with you depends on what side of the bed he wakes up. If you get someone on his staff, that may be an easier conversation. |

For many years now, Jerry Jones has made great Danelectro replicas. I just googled the site and find that Jerry Jones has retired and ended production, but there's still instruments in the channel. It seems like it would be worth giving their business office a call and see whether they still have a Longhorn case or could connect you with their supplier. You certainly can get a G&G case for a Longhorn. This company is the maker of most high-end Fender and PRS cases for many years and most of the Alembic cases I've seen look like G&G as well. They'll have the patterns on file, you just need to find somebody to order it though. Personally, I would go to Ed Roman only as an absolute last alternative. Try googling his shop to see what sorts of experiences people have had. You don't need to see 10 bad reviews to stop considering - when you find 100+, that ought to mean something. There are lots of builders and people in the community at large that will help you out if they can. David Fung |

I agree with David's input, however sometimes we have to work with people we would rather not. I can say on the transactions I completed with his organization, all went well. Other days I would call and he sounded possessed. His on-line store may be the only place left to get this type of case. So caverat emptor! |

Yeah, I hear ya'. Actually the bass is my finacee's. I can't play those short scales without tripping over the frets. We have found that the bass has a great sound for many types of music; way better than one might expect for a cheap-o instrument. It's got flats on it, which enhance the "acoustic-electric" sound it makes. I believe Joey Spampinato used Danos, but he used the long scale model, and he got great sounds too. Must be the Masonite. |
