I purchased the Taurus Pedals ? a few years ago. The seller asured me they were Moog Taurus. Well I was about to list them on e bay and after researching (Google)they are very similar if not identical to the Crumar CPB 2. Only difference is I have not found a set of Crumars anywhere on the net with the excact same stomp foot switches. I'd heard Bob Moog actualy helped design the Crumar CPB 2. Here's a bit I found on a Moog Thread off Google. "The (Crumar)CPB-2 is an analog bass synth, similar to the Moog Taurus pedals. Its got good, warm low end hum and that electro beehive drone. It also has good flatulent dynamics. Bob Moog himself had a hand in the design of some Crumar products." I know Crumars are known as poor mans taurus pedals but could these actually be a first early run design. It does have the Moog logo on the back side but that may have been placed there by others. Comments....

Wow, never seen those before! They are definitely not Taurus pedals. I would suggest that you make a post at the Moog Music Forum. Not sure if it would be better to post in the general forum or in the Taurus section. How do they sound? I've got a set of the new Taurus 3 pedals. |

Those aren't Taurus pedals, of which there are three variations. Pretty interesting, though. Post some sound clips! |

Check this link. It appears someone took off the manufacturing serial number tag, see the two screw holes on your last pic, and attached the Moog badge for "fun". No Moog, that's for sure. More detailed info about the pedals at the link. And the foot buttons appear the same, just no black rubber cover on them as seen on the link. Type Crumar CPB-2 into a search engine and see what you can find. (Message edited by lidon2001 on September 07, 2011) |

Steve -Those are NOT Taurus pedals. All I know is everytime I hear about Taurus, another little piece of me gets torn to shreds. I had an old set of Taurus pedals - they fritzed out on me and after a half-hearted attempt to repair them I threw them away!!! - It was a really messed up time of my life. Shortly there after I sold my Zebrawood Exploiter. :-( I like to say that I have no regrets - but throwing those out without persuing professional repair was just plain old STUPID. So with that blatant hi-jack out of the way - Steve make sure to research reasearch research the history of your pedals and hold on to them! |

I have a set of these Crumar pedals. If my memory is correct I paid £80 GBP,one of my all-time bargains. While they don't have the growl and purr of the Taurus setting of the old Mk 1's,you can hear from the link posted by lidon2001 that they have a lot to offer if bass pedals are your thing.I'd never part with mine.I believe there was also a CBP1 which had a single oscillator and have also read that Bob Moog was involved in the design though I can't substantiate this. In any case thumbsup, enjoy them. |
