So what did those who attended think of the Red Rocks performances this past week? I attended with my son on Sunday evening and it was the first time either of us had been to the venue. As far as the venue is concerned all I can say is WOW! We don't have venues like that (or rocks) here in Minnesota. It was also the first time I've seen the band that the acoustics were good enough so that I was really was able to enjoy all of the nuances of Phil's playing. I really enjoyed the Sunday concert and appreciated the manner in which the band stretched out and utilized extended jams more than they have done in previous performances I've attended. The only drawback was leaving Red Rocks and getting back to Denver which took over 2 hours (at least one hour of which was devoted to getting out of the parking lot). |

Red Rocks is a wonderful venue (if it's not raining and the wind isn't blowing too hard, which kills the outstanding natural acoustics). On a still day I stood in the back and could hear a guy singing and playing acoustic guitar on stage without any amplification. I did not see Further this weekend; I have seen the Dead there numerous times. It was great to watch the moonrise behind the stage as they were playing! |

Went on Friday, Phil sounded great. The rest of the band sounded pretty good but i have a big beef with either the drum tech or the FoH sound because the drums sounded terrible! The toms sounded flat and cymbles were to quiet. I also just had my hearing tested the monday before and besides a tiny bit of loss at @ 4-5K hz and some tinnitus i have damn good ears. Also Bob had a really noisy amp or bad setting on a noise gate as he was very buzzy all night. My Buddy went fri and sat said same thing sonically speaking too. Sunday can't speak on as my younger brother went and has poor taste in music and sound. Still nice to see Phil but man $70.00+ a ticket is getting hard to swallow. Bear |
