I know it is not an Alembic (buget does not allow a custom build at this time), but this is one saweet instrument. I just received this DCS5 Canphor Burl yesterday. Can't say enough about the sound and build quality. I had Kent Smith style pickups installed with D'addario flats. You can check out the pics I have from the build here: s1123.photobucket.com/albums/l550/billostech/Shawn%20May%20Custom/ (Message edited by billostech on October 17, 2011) (Message edited by billostech on October 17, 2011) |

I have been playing it since I got it. Its very versitle. I adjusted the action and its best for me to have the action high on this one. Then I picked up the MK5 and played it. Then my Elan fretless and played it. These Alembics are just too right. I won't be able to look at my new family member the same. Its just not an Alembic. It was cool giving the local talent some business though. I am sure this bass will find it's place with me. (Message edited by billostech on October 20, 2011) |

Bill, it's just beautiful. I love the Camphor Burl. I have a piece of it sitting on the mantle. The horn is too cool. I like the matching pick-up covers. Nice collection you have. |

Thanks all. It was cool going through the process of a custum build. I would read the Alembic build thread and imagine mine being there one day. Hey, it will happened hopefully. As for this bass, its not fair to the luthier for me to compare it with an Alembic. It holds it own with many other basses in tone and vesatility. Its a family member now and is welcome. |

Looks like a cross between an Alembic and a Tobias. Very pretty and certainly calls for attention! |
