We saw Wilco at the Riverside Theater in Milwaukee last night. Nels Cline is one of my favorite guitarists. Any how - Nick Lowe opened up for them - he was brilliant! It was just him and an acoustic guitar. His voice is beautiful, his song writing is probably better than it ever was. Great show - worth seeing if he ever comes to your town. |

That sounds awesome. Nels is just incredible. If I could learn to play a tenth as well I would count myself a lucky man. What a cool lineup. |

That's right Dave! The solo in that song is a great example of what makes Nels the MAN! :-D I was first introduced to him on Mike Watts 'Shine Box' tour. His phrasing and ability to build tension is pure musical joy. I bought a DVD of his at the show; "Stained Radiance" - it is Nels with Norton Wisdom (a painter of sorts) they are performing together, Nels with improvised guitaring and Norton with improvised painting - it is fabulous and awe inspiring to see artist from two different genres play off of each other like they do. I also bought Nikc Lowes latest CD - it is also fabulous. Nick is a modern day crooner. |
