Avast ye keepers of the golden keel...I posted the title track from this a couple months ago with the promise of more, so...here's a couple more tracks. The album's done and it'll be on iTunes in the next week or two. In the meantime, feel free to dl these if you wish.

First, track five, "Mariner #4."

http://soundcloud.com/hb3/05-mariner-4/s-EXdNU

It's quirky.

Second, track 2, "Bay of 7 Moons."

It's slow, deep, transcendent.

http://soundcloud.com/hb3/02-bay-of-7-moons/s-Z9Ige

There's other stuff too.

Here's the cover:

That's a significantly degraded version of the cover, btw...the art direction actually is really great.

Cool music - listening to the other stuff and liking it too. Makes me want to do some more recording. Inspirational for sure!

I was simply looking for some stuff to get down that I can perform live or have been performing live, but not quite in finished form. Also initially the title track was really the focus, but after I finished that, the other tracks became their own thing too...

I want to listen, but I'm scared off by the "Sign up with facebook" note; can I sign up for Soundcloud w/out facebook?

Peter, I don't think you have to sign up for anything. When you click on the link and the page opens, you should be able to just click on the play button.

That would freak me out too, but, like Dave says, you should be able to listen w/o doing that. At least I hope so....I do have a Facebook account, but the two aren't linked in any way.

I've done that with just about every Soundcloud anyone's linked, Dave, but have yet to hear note one; the "play" button is there, but clicking it accomplishes naught. When I click on the sign-up, the facebook logo is the firast thing there, thus my trepidation. Maybe one of these days I'll work the courage to try it, but SWMBO has a FB account, & now it's giving her friends she never selected, so..........

Peter; I ran a search. Some things to try.
- Try a different browser if you have one.
- If you a have an add-on like flashblock, add soundcloud to your white list.
- Make sure Flash is updated.

That's all I found. My very uneducated guess is it's a flash issue; that it needs updating or it's being blocked. Hope that helps.

Someone else told me that once; that clicking on the button didn't do anything. I always assumed it was a browser type of thing. I bet Soundcloud would know...

FAQ:

Tracks won't play. What can I do?

Always make sure that your browser and Flash player are updated to the latest versions; if you've installed any flash or ad-blocking plugins in your browser, please add soundcloud.com to the exception list in the plugin settings.

Also, always try to reload the page first and double-check using a different browser as in most cases, playback hiccups are only temporary.

First - Hugh, I always love your stuff. (your link to Nels and your balloon friend was really cool)

Second - Peter I am a non-facebooker, but am signed up to Soundcloud - you should be able to open an account without getting "Faced" - then you can post songs to the Alembic Club Soundcloud!

Good stuff, Hugh! I was able to listen to both tracks on a Mac running OS 10.4.11 and Safari 4.1.3.

Ok, thanks, folks; tried it through Mozilla & am listening to "Mariner #4" as I type! Nice, Hugh. Now I have go back & read everything posted for the last year to find all the things I haven't heard, I guess. (You'll wait a long for a song from me, Paul - when I refer to myself as The World's Worst Guitarist I'm not being wholly facetious, and my singing's even worse. Strictly living room for me!)

Hey, thanks. I think it pairs well w/ the other piccolo bass album. It feels pretty good playing a group of stuff from one, then going into the other. So there's a good 60-70 minutes of material I can play without even getting into improv.

Yeah, right. It actually looks like a little record, doesn't it? I wish I could put it out on one of those floppy plastic albums that used to come in magazines.

This should be an LP. It's such a good example of "fake LP" art design it may as well be.
