I'll be going to see Primus tonight here in Columbia Missouri. They're supposed to be playing outside, so I'm hoping the weather stays nice. I've been waiting to see them for some time now, and I'm really excited.

I've seen them a few times but it's been years. I saw that Primus, Anthrax, PE tour. It killed.

You all make me sick!!!!!
Living in Australia we hardly get any acts of repute.
Anyhow I'm off to the movies just released............
I think it's called The Sound of Music. Starring some
Upcoming actress called Julie Andrews

Slawie - you must be living in the bush - in the last couple of months in Sydney I've seen Evernescence, Yes, Cranberries, 10CC and I've got tickets for Efterklang and Janelle Monae. And thats a tiny per centage of what's been on / coming up. Rumour is there's an up and coming US funk act called Prince in the works.

Well, don't feel so alone on this, Slawie, here in Venezuela we also have a pretty small share of nice, worthy acts to see -not that I think there are that many touring around-. However, every now and then something nice comes along, and last year when the original line-up of ASIA came I did not only saw them, but got to play -with my Epic!- as the opening act. That's the way I like to go to shows, hahahahahaha!!

I saw them open for Rush too! It was on the Presto/Pork Soda tour in Jacksonville, circa 1989 maybe? They freakin played Master of Puppets (Metallica) but Les played all the lead parts! Incredible.

I saw Rush on the Presto tour, but I think the opening act was Mr. Big - would rather have seen Primus!

I had a bootleg when they would do Master of Puppets during Master of Puppies - awesome!

I've seen them about ten times. Met Les a couple of times and got autograph's. Actually got locked in a bar with Les and Tim Alexander across the stret from the Tower Theatre in Philadelphia with only about 10 other people including the ones I was with. Bought him and Herb and their guests some beers and sat in a booth talking with them for a while.
Great experience I won't forget.

Well, I'll say that it was a great show, but it was pretty darn short. They took the stage at 8:00, had a fairly long intermission playing Popeye cartoons, and were done by 10:30. Not exactly overwhelming. I'm glad I got to see them, but I wish they would have played a bit more.

Did they play the hit list or the deep trax? Frizzle Fry? John the Fisherman? My Name is Mud? Professor Nutbutter?

I was lucky enough to see Primus supporting Rush on the "Presto" tour in Glasgow in 92. Les was outrageous, playing his Carl Thompson six string fretless "Rainbow bass" throughout.

I recall that Primus were much louder than Rush that evening; it kind of reduced Rush's impact once they took the stage.

This was a great show. No opener. They came out, played with nary a five-second pause between songs. No banter. But, holy cow, those guys have some serious chops. Several Carl Thompson basses made appearances, including the infamous "Rainbow Bass." Great bass sound during the show...sort of like a rooting hog (Note: strange as that sounds, as an Arkansan, I find that sound appealing). The highlight was, for me, a toss-up between "Fish On" and "Renegade." Highly recommended.

Now you've done it:

Now Mica is gonna get swamped with calls regarding what wood recipe you use to get that 'rooting hog' tone . . . . .

I had a chance to meet Les and J Lane in a music store, a couple months back. I just didn't have the nerve. Les is really tall!
