Quite remarkable. Sorry that "Tis" is gone now. Brian Bromberg shows what 4 strings can do, who needs a quitarist anyway? JK

Aside from the amazing performances we get to hear the tonal differences of the instruments. Everyone bringing their best foot forward. Humble opinion is this could be an Alembic Advertisement.

I'm trying to work out what Billy is doing here to get the note to drop in pitch. I've seen stanley push the neck forward and brace the body of his bass to drop the note on a harmonic but I can't exactly see what billy is doing.

By the way I have this DVD it's called Night School

Something similar to a B-Bender, perhaps?

Jazzyvee and John; in the video that Terry linked in his "bolting things to your bass" thread, Billy shows what he's doing, and it's basically bending the neck. I've cued it up here.

Wow. That's a lot of bend to get the pitch to drop that much!

I've bent the neck on my Distillate lots to drop notes, but not that much; kinda scary to go that far with a bolt-neck bass...i used to do that with an old guitar of mine, a Framus (Hollywood I think) that has a very flexible mahogany neck...I always figured that one day I was gonna snap that neck onstage, but amazingly it lived to it's retirement(the neck's really narrow, so riffs and power chords only)

Stu Hamm's bass had an awesome paint job, beautiful metal flake! great playing all around too...Tony

In this video, around 4:35, you can see Billy using the D-Tuner along the neck bending to low E string really down:

As he uses his left hand to bend the neck holding the headstok, he can flip the D-Tuner key at same time.

And here, at 7:30, he talks about bending the neck

Good when you have a bolt on neck, but better if some companie will give you a new bass if you ruin it...

I'm still confused as I can't see how he is bending the neck unless the neck is not stiff at all.
