Hurricane Issac has been sitting right on the coast of southern Louisiana since yesterday afternoon, and the area is getting slammed with high winds, storm surges and torrential rains. Some small local levies have been overtopped. There is flooding and wind damage; homes have been lost, people are being rescued from attics and rooftops.

Hoping all of our club members in the area are safe and dry.

Tampa was hit hard by a tsunami of hot air this week. Good thing Isaac passed us by.

I'm here! Thanks for the concern everyone. We did ok. Lost a bit of the roof and some soffit and fascia. Lost a mailbox too, which can be a good thing! The worst of it all is when the rain and water was at it's peak, we lost plumbing. Not being able to flush the toilet for a couple of days was not a good thing.

All in all my family is fine. I have not been able to check in because my internet was finally restored tonight. We had some down lines that were finally repaired.

Michael,

I'm glad you're ok. Being so far away from these extreme weather things, they can become abstract for most of us, something we'll never experience in person, so it's good that we have folks like you around to make it real for the rest of us...when Vancouver finally has the big earthquake I'll tell you all about it; thankfully I don't work downtown anymore so I only have to worry about squishing, not the giant glass shower too...
