Mistakes are part of our human landscape and we have all made some (myself very much included). So when you explicitly order something and it arrives built incorrectly, it really cheapens the experience. In the scope of lifes rich pageant and in light of events in my own state and area this is a mere hiccup. It just makes me wonder why a list of specs (that are offered by the maker) are not looked at before and after your money is taken. So now another round of stuff has to be undertaken to make it right. I could just settle but having so many Alembics built to my specs I'm not in the mind to say "Yeah, I'll take it, not what I ordered but don't want to be a bother." Alembic strives toward perfection and does their best to make it right. So I fully admit I'm spoiled.

So just venting. Not really upset or anything, just don't know why some people don't pay attention to their work sometimes.

In order to not damage a reputation I'm going to leave their name out of it. Perhaps a loss in the translation was the cause of the error. I did check that my requests were clear so the fault is on their end. I learned long ago that mistakes cost money. Any whoops, or uh ohs claim profits. Perhaps that is why I try to put some extra touches into my deals with club members.

This is a mere trifle. If the company involved does not remake the item as ordered then I'll let you know if you are still interested. Cheers and enjoy the weekend! I'm off to do yardwork and finally get all my cds into my computer. Its a lot of tedious effort but worth it in the end. Then I gift them to friends and family.

My computer only holds one CD at a time. I'm guessing that either you own very few CDs or you have a really really big computer.

Except maybe the "Why the heck did I buy it?" stuff, I would not gift the originals, Danno; as any archivist can tell you, anything digital-only is not preserved (Well, actually, that's "anything not eye-readable", but for performed art, that's impossible). Digitization is good for access, but keep a hard copy; files corrupt & systems crash.

I think our world has moved forward and we are so entrusted to technology and multi-distracting ourselves that attention to details often times get overlooked.

I should be more of a pain and less trusting that folk will be professional. Most of the time I just order something and wait for delivery. But I have many things to be thankful for and life is good.
Please pray for those who have suffered greatly during Sandy. There are still many without basic needs,

Point taken on the cds. I'll only gift the ones I have no interest in. I forget that most people don't consume as much music as we do here.

Just some advice on the digitizing thing...Make MANY copies of your digital music collection. I am talking as many as 4 or more.

Last year I had the drive that contained my primary library fail. I went to an external drive that had a backup copy on it and that was corrupt as well. Luckily I had a third drive with most of the music on it.

The manufacturer is going to start again from scratch and build the right item. The rep came to my house, picked up the item and we went over my specs again and we both signed the order sheet together. So in another 3 to 4 months I should have what I paid for. Hopefully they will get it right this time. Life is too short to live with something that is not to your liking. I thing I'll change some strings today and enjoy the crystalline tones from my toys.
