http://www.moogmusic.com/news/moog-music-resynthesizes-44-year-old-live-recording-grateful-dead-new-tools-artists Ever since I got protools over a decade ago I've been intrigued with the idea of splicing up stuff like this into phrases and motifs, and creating something 'new'..... If i can pry the iPad away from my daughter, I'm gonna download this tonight and report back. |

I downloaded it and it's pretty cool, but it's nothing recognizable as clips from the show mentioned (my 7th birthday!). Animoog is a very cool app and it's on sale right now. If you are into experimenting with synthesis, I highly recommend it. |

I love Animoog and also got the expansion pack. When I was doing sound for some Nutcracker performances this year, I would sometimes arrive to the theater early and "test" the sound system with it! And to think, I got the iPad version of the app for $0.99!! |

Yeah, I got in on the initial $.99 release too, and the v2 update didn't cost a thing either! I've yet to buy an audio/MIDI dock, so the new 4-track sequencer makes it less of a toy and more of a tool for me. I had some time to mess w/ the GD timbres, and if you tweak the filter section along w/ the path rate, you can make out that some of the clips were lifted from an ensemble performance. But like Edwin says, if you're hoping for samples of Phil's EB-0 running thru a freqbox, this is slightly removed..... If I recall correctly, this was the show where Jerry threw Phil down the stairs afterwards?!? |
