Right on Danno!!!!...... I can't enlarge the headstock well enough to make out the logo, is it a Moses? And the electonics make sense, except the toggles' function...... |

I caught a scott Scott Henderson gig in Manchester a couple years back and Larry Carlton's son was playing one of those Xotic basses on the gig and it sounded great. Jazzyvee |

It's a shame to have to buy anything because some folks can't understand Alembics. On the other hand, there are some very cool Fender clones (I'm partial to Laklands - hard to hate a Fender clone built by a Deadhead). I really like the looks of your Xotic. You would be surprised how many people are stuck with an image of what a bass should look like, or even sound like. In this case I now have whatever is required for the gig. Wood and black Alembics, fretless, Status headless, whammy, acoustic/elect and now this. This one is the do-over. The previous one was more standard and not what I ordered. This is as requested and will suit me better. The other one will be going to Felix Pastorius I hear. http://youtu.be/IX8U6hPaeaQ |

Aha - the mystery of the returned custom is solved! Glad you're happy with this one, Danno; it's...well, for one thing, it's really black! That they made good speaks volumes in favor of them. Peter |

Nice "compromise" ;)Have you played it out much? I played a venue last night that had real trouble dialling in my series I. Apparently I was giving them "too much signal"!?!? Not a hijack just an aside. I would like to hear how it sounds also. slawie |

Its on it way from Cali so I can;t say how this one is. I played the 1st version. Very solid and versatile. My friend Mike is a rep for them and Phil Jones and I played a few Xotics through the new PJ line (highly recommend these amps and cabs) after Mike returned from NAMM. I find my ear is tuned to my Alembic tone preference and I dial in until I hear what suits me. These electronics can come very close and the legacy of Ron is in virtually all modern instruments of quality in my opinion. I have a metal covers gig on the 21st here in Joisey so I might bring that along and see how it is and let you know how it fares. |

It arrived and I used it on a recording featuring Johnny Kelly from Type O, Danzing and BLS fame. Good solid sound and the Fenderish vibe makes you approach it differently. The hum cancel is a nice feature. Its a big bass and I have to be aware of the large headstock. Not a fan of roadworn dings and bangs. For gigs I'm using a phil jones neo 5x8 cab and my thunderfunk 750. My roadcase need some love from the manufacturer. It cut out on my at my last gig. The xotic is a good bass and I incorporated as many Alembic like features as I could. It does not get the sizzle that the Alembics do and has a very different vibe but I'm pleased with it. Now to change the tuners! I will be selling the like new set if anyone is interested. Chrome ultralite 1/2 Fender type. Cheers |
