Just want to say hello to all here, its been a while, so I hope everyone is doing well with their chops, playing and gig..I was busy dabbing in some business venture so time was very rare to have free. Now I am trying to take back some me time before my name appears here John Judge R.I.P seeing too much of that lately and approaching the 60 mark does make it more a sooner reality then later. Well I just want to say hello and sincerely wish everyone successful endeavors . I ran into a guy in Florida the other day and asked me a question no one asked me before, he said what made me choose Alembic to build my Bass and asked if I ever played one before having it built...So the answer is I saw a little ad somewhere in a guitar mag, and I remember the logo seeing it on Jerry's guitar and thought to myself, I bet they can build me a type of Bass Im looking for, so then I called and got the ball rolling, well after back and forth with some design shooting around the double neck was born...but the answer is NO! I bought Alembic Sight unseen, never played one prior to my purchase but to me it was obvious that the quality and craftsmanship was superb, a cutting edge above the rest, I mean I was playing a Gibson ripper and BC rich 8 string prior to that instrument...I just knew it was gonna be great quality, and it was and still is, not a sales pitch just stating a fact. Enjoy your Alembics everyone its the Rolls Royce of Bass. Peace to all and great success, and wanna say Hello especially to Art, Dave and Adam, Kris and of course Mica, wish u all much success, I am now residing in the Orlando area if anyones near by and wanna get together sometime. get in touch with me. John |

Hello again, John. We met at the Chicago Gathering in 2009, and it's good to see you're still kicking and getting some "me" time. Keep the positive vibe, Life isn't over at 60 and there's still alot of musical fun to be had... |

Hi John, I really enjoyed the story of the doubleneck. That doubleneck has become such an Alembic icon travelling the globe and passing through many different owners, always surrounded in mystery about its history and the original owner. I regret missing my chance to own it, but I would have kept it as a showpiece more than anything else. I'd like to see it on display behind glass at the Alembic office for all visitors to admire. I've long been considering a doubleneck but more along the lines of the short scale small standard body with a 4 string fretless upper and a fretted 4 lower. I'm a HUGE fan of Ebony and Purpleheart, so they would be the two woods used. Do you have any design projects planned or in progress? Best wishes, Rami |

Its great hearing from you Rami as always... A few small ideas but not since the Raven but I have revamped some ideas about it, I thought about a short scale myself with also the fretted and fretless concept, I got to play one and really enjoyed it, A tobias it was. Yes I was truly thinking about a 6 string piccolo bass with the neck short scale shifted a little farther back into the body design and the bottom neck would be four string fretted/fretless split. the piccolo would have and octave circuit built in it so with a flip of a switch the octave would kick in, but you know its really hard to find one that tracks really well on bass but being this would be piccolo it might have good success in doing so. It be a fun soloing instrument , to jump up to the top neck and make the top neck or bottom switchable with a foot switch so you can play almost continuously and switch to the other neck HA! ...I love those stage visual and playing dynamics when you bust out on the bass to a smaller piccolo neck and hear the distinction of higher frequencies under laced by them big fat Bag end sub woofer lows! and you bust out a riff from something like Cosmos Squad. Which is one of my favorite groups..Art loves them too. But first maybe before another doubleneck Im thinking short scale piccolo fretted and fretless mixed with the octave circuit. It's wild but thats what I do best. dream up this crazy stuff! take care Rami |

Once tried an original POG with bass and it tracked amazingly well...mind you, I don't play fast but it sounded like a big old Hammond...look into one of those, I'm tempted to get one myself but that would mean changing my pedalboard and I like it as is...Tony |
