I think this was covered previously here, but if you're a Floyd/Gilmour fan, don't miss this one. Excellent sonics, good vid quality and lots of fretboard close-ups (there's even a bonus section called "loose digits" that are all FB close-ups during David's solos!). He's old, balding and a bit bulked-up, but he's still got it...he's in fine voice both vocally and instrumentally. Highly recommended! Now, if they would just release the live documentary ca. 1984 RE: the "About Face" LP on DVD. Honorable mention to Roger Water's "In the Flesh Live" DVD. Good playing of old Floyd and Water's better solo stuff ca. 2000....good sonics and pic quality as well. Doyle Bramhall II is particularly outstanding on most of the lead guitar duties.

David is without a doubt one of my all-time favorite guitarists. His tone and musicality are instantly recognizable. I can also relate to the "old, balding and bulking-up" comment, being a member of the "Over-40 Guitar Club", LOL!. Touche'! |

You can get away with being fat, bald and old if you can play like David Gilmour, LOL! Have you seen his wife Polly Samson? Young and pretty...made four pretty babies for him too! Rather terrible being a famous rock star, eh? Quite! |

There is (was?) a great Gilmour resource on the web called gilmourish.com. It's authored by a Norwegian (?) Gilmour fanatic that plays in a Pink Floyd cover band. He has devoted countless hours trying to duplicate Gilmour's style, tone, licks and equipment...and does a god job explaining everything. His sound bytes of his cover band aren't too shabby either. He also has good Gilmour/Floyd links. Now if I can only figure out how to contact the guy as his web domain name appears to have expired yesterday. |

One thing more of interest: If you get the DG Live DVD, you'll see bonus footage of David rehearsing the back-up singers in what appears to be his waterfront home. It is in actuality a vintage 100ft.-long house boat that was completely fitted-out as a recording studio! Pete Cornish helped fit the thing with custom tube electronics to solve a myriad of noise/signal problems as as the studio is at one end, and the control room is at the other. |
