I have had a roadcase and now currently use a 6x5 and 8x5 with the 600 watt head and PJB speaker cables. I think Phil has done a great deal for bassists and continues to innovate. I tried the double 4 in the showroom and it sounds great. It won't crank to fill a room but placed near you and out to a PA its great.

Contact the ever helpful Mike Albronda for info.

Well, I tried it last week. Impressive but really only a cute little practice amp. I couldn't see it being any use in a live performance but that is not what it is meant for. Having said that, I was tempted to buy for it's cuteness (especially in red) but was saved by logic and my wife at the crucial point. You can buy a lot of beer for £370! Glynn

I have a PJB brief case with 2x5 speakers and rated 100w.
Ive used it on a number of bass gigs and rehearsals in a jazz , rnb and folk music context and it pumped out a great sound. On its on with a jazz quartet and an outdoor folk festival it was brilliant and in fact came out stronger than the amplified acoustic electric guitars to the audience. Other times have used it as a DI and disconnected the speakers.
Live I've used it a lot with my alembic orion guitar when travelling light on gigs. I had it mic'd up and put on a box at chest height for better projection at stage volume. Don't under estimate the small speakers. The added plus point of the briefcase is it also has a rechargeable battery facility.
As for the beer, after you have spent £370 on beer there is nothing to show for it. :-)

Ive also only had the opportunity to try the double 4 out in a showroom but I was suitably impressed. I must admit I'm a little biased since I'm typically am playing through a 9B and 6B combination. The sound of the Double 4 was, although not the loudest, exceptionally clean and uncolored.
