To all with the sinister hand: All lefty Alembicans please check in here and let's get aquainted. We can use this thread to swap stories about the difficulties of obtaining left handed instruments or as a meeting place for selling or trading basses. Mike Oh yes, and pictures are always welcome!

Checking in from here in Michigan. I am a long time lover of Alembic basses and finally bought my first one in 1996. I have a new one on order as we speak. My 1996 is a flamed walnut, short scale custom. It is essentially a SC std but billed out as a custom to save $. It is also FOR SALE. (immaculate showroom condition).
Currently I am in a 7-piece oldies band playing only about once a month. I love playing bass and singing.
Every lefty should check out southpaw.net

I love the look of good Walnut. My Europa is figured Walnut. What do you have on order? I am waiting for the bass of my dreams, a cocobolo series II. I am considering selling my other basses to help finance the new one. I hate the thought of parting with any one of them though. Their all so unique. It's funny, to look at them, they don't seem all that different in construction and features yet they are so different in tone. My Distillate, Europa and Elan all have very similar electronics packages ( the Elan is missing the quick tone change switches ). If I do decide to sell,I will post them here first. Mike

hi

I am a lefty and love your bass Dale but i am a student and cant afford another bass right now but it is very nice. looking forward to seeing you new bass.

Mike keep us up to date in the future a left handed Alembic really is a blessing. It is great that Alembic do not charge more for Left handed versions of their basses and Guitars it drives me nuts that you have to pay more to some companies.

Andrew

Andrew, You are so right! It really is a blessing! When I think back about all the times in my life when I tried to convince a manufacturer to build a lefty and they would just laugh or give me an outrageous price quote or build time, It is a joy to know that the greatest basses in the world are there for the asking. I once put a deposit down for a lefty Gibson Triumph bass in 73'. After not hearing a word from them for six months, I took back my deposit. THREE years later they called and said they were ready to build and did I still want it! I'm sure you can guess what I told them ;) Mike

Hello fellow leftys
Greetings from Denmark. I will not descripe myself as an Alembic fanatic but I do own 2 of these babys. An 4 string MK and a 5 string Epic. One day I hope to get my hands on a Wal Mark1 (fretless of course)
Kind regards

Southpaw checking in gang... I have a '97 Orion with Europa electronics that is amazing. I am trying to download a picture of it to the Showcase.
Jlpicard (Mike) you have the largest lefty Alembic collection here! Let us know when you are ready to part with one of them (if ever). I would like to find another Alembic, neck through so I can compare the differences from my set neck Orion.
I am going to California in May and will stop by the factory for a visit, hopefully I can see Jlpicard's & RX's basses being built. I wish I had the $$ for a new Alembic, you lucky dogs!

JLPicard (great name, fan of STNG series and a Shakespeare fan to boot):
Unfortunately I am old school; 4 strings is all I can handle, pop a fuse after that! If you are parting with the Distillate or Europa, please let me know, I really am looking for a neck through Alembic without mortgaging the house... Plus senior management does not understand the need for more than one bass.
