Well I am finally getting to see the Grateful Dead Movie. The local PBS system is running it tonight as part of their fund raising drive. I was so appreciative that I called up and made a contribution of an amount for which they will send me the 2 DVDs and 6 CDs. The video and sound are very good; and the band is playing great!! |

I'm in the Eastern US time zone; and the statewide system here in North Carolina is University of North Carolina Public Television. My guess is that PBS stations around the country will probably pick this up as part of their fund raising drive; and I'm also guessing that they are probably all having their drives now. So check your local listings. I was just mentioning in another thread that it seemed to me as I watched the movie last night that Phil's bass never sounded as good nor was ever placed in the mix as well. I thought the overall mix and sound quality was excellent. Even the piano seemed just right; and I could hear Bob Weir's guitar parts very nicely. It just seemed to be a great mix. Maybe it was just me. Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting the DVD's! |

I dont know which one they aired, but the local NPR station plugged it as "the Closing of the Winterland~ Jerry Garcia's love letter to Deadheads which took him two years to edit..." (or something to that effect) So I was curious as to which one they were going to air~ was it 12-31-78 or the GD movie?!?! |

The one that was aired here was the Grateful Dead Movie and not the Closing of Winterland. I wonder if your local NPR station received any helpful email after that announcement? |
