I live in Detroit, which is currently the 10th largest city in the US, with just under 1 million people.

We're about to fall out of the top 10. Gonna be passed by some little hamlet out west. Some little town in California. Some little place called.............San Jose. Maybe I oughta relocate.

Do they count basses during the census?

Ah yes. San Jose. The northernmost suburb of Los Angeles! There are better places to be IMHO.
