We posted an announcement already, but you'll all be glad to know that the Alembic Club is back and hopefully better than before. I'll be interested to hear from anyone if posting times are decreased. I know searches were really long, and I while I expect the search times to be shorter now, they are probably still a little on the long side, but I'd still want to hear your observations. |

It is significantly faster to post, though I still wouldn't call it fast. My first attempt was maybe 20-30 seconds to post and repaint the page, where the previous iteration sometimes just didn't ever repaint. Hopefully this will help some of the double-posters out there to avoid that particular faux pas. I also did a couple searches, and they are fast enough in my book. Of course, they were fast enough for me on the previous server. They might be a bit faster, but I can't say for sure. Also note that I am on the east coast. I didn't check to see exactly where your server is, but there's definitely some transmission delay from out here. I am seeing about 1/10th second round-trip time, though that should be a small fraction of the total on post and search operations. Other navigation seems pretty snappy when you take the transmission delay into account. Congrats on a successful move! -Bob |

Update definitely seems faster. Searches also appear to be better than they were. |

From the East coast as well...the site is significantly enhanced by the new server and both upload times and searches are much faster. Thank you. Rob |

On another note...Bob's right. It still takes a long time to post and repaint. FYI. Rob |

Preview pretty quick, as usual. Final posting took awhile - maybe a little bit quicker than before, maybe not. It's still a longish wait. Bill, tgo |

Much faster response especially when opening threads. Search is also significantly faster. I haven't noticed a great speed increase when posting, though I haven't posted any images - I've never experienced a problem with the page rendering ("repainting?") after posting. For reference purposes: 4mb cable modem connection - Mac OS X 10.3.9 - Browsers: Safari and Firefox Tom |

Yes..significantly faster. Posting is faster, not blindingly fast tho. Did a search and that too is noticeably faster. Thanks for the upgrade ! Gary |

Mica, also from me: much more speed but no significant change in speed when posting. Oliver (Spyderman) |

I didn't notice that the Alembic Club was dead. ;-)) But I can see that the response time is much more faster than before (sometimes it was real slow here in Germany). Harald |
