Those should be some good shows. I've never seen Buddy Guy live but I saw a TV concert once. It was an outdoor gig in The Woodlands, TX. Buddy Guy, Greg Rzab on bass, and a drummer. I had never hear of Greg Rzab before. I was amazed at his playing. It was filled with slapping and popping and perfectly supported Guy. I have never hear that kind of bass in blues. I heard that he's the guy who owns Jaco's J-bass. Don't know for sure, though. Kevin, are you going to check out some of the shows?

Yeah, I'll probably be going to ALL of them. With the exception of Skynyrd, the tix are dirt cheap and I'm only about 40mins. away from the Starland. I may also go to some of the other shows coming as well.

As a life-long severe migraine sufferer, smoky clubs tend to be brutal to me. Add sleep deprivation (I'm up at four AM for work) and a little alchohol (one or two only) and I'm guaranteed a gut-wrenching major hangover-type migraine by the next morning at the latest. Regardless, I love music and CAN'T live without it, so if I wanna see live acts or play out live, I have to suffer for my art. That is, at least until they institute NYC-style NO SMOKING IN PUBLIC PLACES legislation in Joisey.

Apparently Jaco had several Jazz basses.

Check out this interview with Rzab. Lots of neat stuff.

Oh, and Buddy Guy can play!
