So I saw this baby on ebay and had to have it, it's made a very (in)famous bass builder that I'm sure many of you have heard of, that's right, it's a Wishbass, specifally the Scarab model!
This bass is made from some very nice "substitute" woods! The body is Chinaberry which is a Mahogany, the fingerboard is Persimmon which is a member of the Ebony family and is very hard, the neck is a 5 piece with 3 Persimmon lamenents down the middle and the other 2 are Walnut. All the wooods are local North Carolina woods which I think is pretty cool! It has a single MM style pickup and a single volume.

It's a 34" scale and is a dream to play, if any of you have owned a Wishbass you know that normally they come without any setup or finish but this one had both! I only live about 30 mins from the man who makes these so I went and picked it up in person. Truly a nice guy who gave me a tour of his shop and let me see all his projects he's working on including a sitar! I also bought an electric Mandocello from himm the other week that I'm upgrading with some nice stuff, if anyone is interested I'll start a seperate thread on that ;) He told me this would probably be the last of the Scarab model he built because, are you ready? I GOT IT FOR $200!!!!! It's my budget Alembic ;)

I'm planning on doing some upgrades that may include an adjustable bridge, replacing the Kent Armstrong pickup with a Bartolini MMCB to get some more bass out of it and maybe add a 3 way series/single coil/parallel switch to get some cool tone options and add a tone pot. It'd be awesome to get an Alembic Activator pickup in the MM shape and install a filter and Q-switch!!! but don't have the money for all that at the moment :/

Will gladly take more pics for anyone interested!
