I just ordered tickets yesterday from ticketmaster for the August show at Meadowbrook in the Detroit area! $82 for my lovely bride and I. Any Alembicans want to try and meet up at the show? If you have never been there Meadowbrook is a great venue. Michael

I thought Bela was spending the year in Africa? But according to Bela's site it is true. The closest they are coming to me is Cleveland (~ 4 hours).

Similar situation here. Closest is Vienna, Va (DC area) which is 4 or so hours away. It is also the weekend we take my younger daughter up UNCA for her freshman orientation. To bad would make a good weekend get away for the wife and myself.

I heard Bela Fleck interviewed on NPR and he was back from Africa -- I think he was there for a few weeks, maybe six weeks.

I listened to some of Stanley Clarke's audio blogs -- on one he says the only thing preventing a Return to Forever reunion is Chick Corea, who, apparently, doesn't want to do it for "religious reasons"....

I've been watching this closely. Still no European dates though.
Oops. Just checked Bela's website and he has 6 dates in july. - 4 in spain, 1 at the montreaux festival and one in the netherlands for the north sea festival. Sadly none in Scotland or even England. Sob!

If I'm not mistaken, the following dates are at European/Scandinavian locations...

July 2/05 Madrid, Spain Veranos de la Villa - Patio del Conde Duque / THE TRIO

July 3/05 Vigo, Spain Sala del Conciertos / THE TRIO

July 4/05 Barcelona, Spain Teatre Grec/Guitar Festival / THE TRIO

July 5/05 Cartegena, Spain Teatro / THE TRIO

July 8/05 Montreux, Switzerland Jazz Festival / THE TRIO

July 9/05 Den Haag, Holland North Sea Jazz Festival / THE TRIO

This is according to www.ponty.com.

Fleck/Clarke/Ponty will be playing at the North Sea Jazz Festival in the Hague on July 9. I think you pay 60 EUR for the day - but check the program http://www.northseajazz.com - you get a lot of good music for the money. The downside is that they're playing on the roof (covered) - so you'll have to climb a lot of stairs to get to the concert ...

But, just think, dear Alembicans- Bela Fleck, cosmic Banjo, Stanley, and Jan Luc together- be still my heart! So- I still offer a chance for the selected few (warped few) to meet the "Mad Doctor" at the concert. We can swap lies and generally congratulate our selves on our choice of incredible instruments. sadly the closest show to me is the day I arrive at Bonnaroo. So I guess it will be Philly for me.
