He was 94. His contribution to our music and culture is immeasurable; and I am grateful for the gift to our world that was Pete Seeger. |

+1. So many of us grew up listening to him. He seemed ancient to me back then, crazy to think he was younger than I am now…. Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie both proved that music doesn't have to be loud to be powerful. |

A giant of a musician. A giant of an activist. A giant of a human being. From my Custom of the Month, 10/2007, bio: Why "Woody?" Bill named his custom Further firstly for the beautiful woods. Secondly, it's a bit of a tribute to Woody Guthrie. As Bill explains, "Woody Guthrie, back in the 1940's wrote 'This Machine Kills Fascists' on his guitars. Inspired by Woody, Pete Seeger writes 'This Machine Surrounds Hate And Forces It To Surrender' on his banjo head. I've always thought it was cool and evocative of the power and unifying nature of music. I wanted to make it my own and soften it a little, make it a little less confrontational, so I decided on 'This Machine Surrounds Hate And Sings It Into Submission'" May the Four Winds Blow You Safely Home.
