Not many updates recently, but no news is good news. He had his two year evaluation and everything went great. He's been out of therapy since September but the coordinator brought along a speech therapist just to check up and she said that while his pronunciation is about 6 months behind, his vocabulary (which she estimated in the thousands) and sentence structure along with ability to communicate abstract thought is off the hook.

Hm, that went up before I was ready. In any case, he totally got the concept of blowing out the candles. And then he got to hang out with his favorite thing in the whole world, the big red water truck that lives next to my wife's studio (and the owner even gave him a ride around the parking lot) and finally a shot of Xander seeing the Pacific ocean for the first time. We were in LA for an event for Dawn so I got to take him around to see the sights for a bit.

Pretty good for a drummer! :-)
Happy b-day, Xander.

Oh man, if 'our' nephew Xander is already two . . . That means that WE are getting older . . . :-D

"Ability to communicate abstract thought" is a trait that should be encouraged and nourished . . . Our world is over run by book thinkers.

Happy birthday Xander!
Your Alembic family loves you.

I remember when we were all on the edge of our chairs pulling for Xander, so this is just terrific. A drummer with a thousand-word + vocabulary capable of abstract thought . . . . scary, huh?

Happy Birthday Xander, and all the best, Edwin !

Thanks, everyone! It's really great to have this Alembic family and the support over the last two years has been so uplifting to us all. We couldn't have done it without you. It would have been really tough going it alone. It feels really good to be able to share great experiences we are having now!

Where has that time gone..well done Xander..A drummer with a thousand word vocabulary..new one to me LOL All drummers I know only have three statements
1. Where do I set up?
2. How much money am I getting paid?
3. Will the pizza shop still be open after we finish?

All good news and an excellent choice of attire for the beach!

And when he gets a little older, you could suggest to him that drums, although fine by themselves, are perfect stepping stones to that most holy grail of all instruments...

I have played with many drummers over the years ,some great and some not so much great. Some are completely intuitive and some very clinical. In between is great but I am always in delight when they can whip out the 40 rudiments ! WOW & KOOL factor ___ !
