Can anyone point me at a source for a power cord for a Conn ST-11 Strobotuner? Incredibly, Radio Shack nor Best Buy proved up to the task; likewise my friendly locally-owned guitar store.
It's into-the-unit end is a long, shallow oval with 3 sockets, center one slightiy out of line with the outter ones (I'll try to remember to actually measure tomorrow).
Thanks,

Peter

Ah, the joys of search engines - where would we be without them? (Not behind our computers, for sure. But I digress ...)

http://www.mts.net/~smythe/st-11.htm tells me:
"a replacement power cord for the ST-11 may be acquired from Ken's Electronics in Kalamazoo, MI. 17952 Belden-Volex SVT18-3C 8ft 1960-70's Appliance cord 3 round holes; outer pins = 5/8" centers $9.70"

There's a link to said website, which shows it was last updated in 2012. It has a pretty long list of appliance cords, but this particular one is not listed - so happy hunting!

Yeah, I found that one; lists it as "unavailable". There's one on evilbay for $23 & change, but I'm hoping to find one a little less likely to disturb the domestic tranquility (more than the tuner already did.....) Thanks, though.

Probably easier and cheaper to cut out the old socket and put an IEC socket in; those sockets only cost a couple bucks and are usually easy to install...also a good fix if you've lost the cord to all those old Roland keyboards with the 2 prong socket...Tony

I want to try to avoid that, as the socket in inset - the metal it's mounted to is inside the cabinet - and going modern would require cutting tolex & wood.

In some cases the IEC socket will fit in the existing cutout without modification other than the screws. Where the problem usually arises is the depth of the IEC is deeper that the older 17952. For as cheap as they are it might be worth picking one up and seeing if it will work.

There is a new 17952 power cable currently on Ebay here for $14.65.

There's also a PH-163 cable listed here for $8.95 (though this may be another case where they no longer actually have it). This appears to be the same cable as the 17952.

(Note: I know nothing about this type of thing. Someone like Keith will know a lot more. I did find what appears to be some helpful information here.)

Thanks, Dave; I'm on the phone first thing in the AM! $8.95 sounds better than $23 or $14.65.

And score! It ships today. I checked 3 more local places before I called, and thus was stunned when he said he asked "How many?". Even with the 3% credit card processing charge (5% for PayPal) & shipping, still cheaper than the lower e-bay one. I knew you folks would come through for me (though wonder why my web searches didn't turn that one up). You're my hero, Dave.
