Practicing this evening for an upcoming Swing band gig.
The battery in my Distillate was at that point of fading and starting to break up the sound.
I had my headphones through a Carvin MB15; finished running through some of our material and then started 'noodling'. By now the crunchy, breaking up tone was getting better . . . I was playing some chord stuff, actually kinda hacking my way through Blackbird and certain chords (notably D/ Gflat and Gflat/ A) were creating an overtone (undetone?) that made it sound like there was an octave drop effect on it!

My jaw dropped . . . Played some more and yep, it was definetly there. Took off the headphones and played through the amp and could not hear it.

Maybe the headphone wire was caught under your strap, and the wire was pulled taut, and the vibrations from the bass travelled along the wire? Would have the same effect as pressing your ear against the side of the body whilst playing.
