I was getting ready for work today and had on the video show and noticed that Chuck Panozzo, original bass player for Styx, in a video of "Best of Times" off "Paradise Theater" was playing an Alembic, I think. It may have been a Series. I'm not sure. Does anyone know if Panozzo played Alembic? One of the most outstanding concerts I ever saw was Styx in Nashville during the Grand Illusion tour, sometime in the late 70s. They really were something to see, and hear (at least then!)

That was the bass that first introduced me to Alembics. I think there was also a color pic of it in an Alembic catalog from somewhere around 1978. I believe it's a Scorpion body shape with ebony facings. Don't know if it's a S1 or S2.

I'd love to se a pic of it again if anyone has one!

I'll bet he was. Here is a link to some early Styxx pictures with Chuck playing an Alembic. I still remember these guys when they played high school gymnasiums in the Chicago area.

Keth...I went to college in the mid-and-late70s at Murray State University, Murray, Ky. One of the guys there had "his claim to fame" as having had Styx having played at their HIgh School Prom somewhere in or near Chicago in the early years..

Ah Styx's..like Keith, I also remember seeing them in high schools, junior college gigs, and the like around Chicago. They were from a da south side. I read recently that the DeYoungs are still living in the same neighborhood.

Keith,
Thanx for the link...a great pic of a very unique Alembic with a "Scorpion Omega", something that I have never seen before.
Mica, is this still an available option?? :-)
