Wouldn't you know that weekend, 10/21, is when Stanley Clarke and Bela Fleck will be here. I've already bought those tickets and both isn't practical. My consolation is the DVD from the London shows is due out sometime this fall.
Enjoy and say hello to the greatest band on Earth for me.

I do. The face value on the ticket I was given for Paul McCartney's Miami show recently was $252. Good thing it was company sponsered. I tried to talk them into sending me to the Cream show but to no avail.

Try stubhub.com....prices of up to $3k - $4k!!!!!

Legal ticket scalping (aka, gouging) is alive and well in a capitalist marketplace!

I love the Cream, but not that much, LOL!

I think I'll wait for the DVD to see how much the Clapton of the 21st century doesn't sound or play like the Clapton of '68.

good grief....These guys are probably millionares many times over (Paul, clapton and the stones at least)....How can they justify those prices? Or is it the promoter that sets the prices???

$20 for the new Royal Albert Hall (5/05) DVD is more like it! LOL! It's being released next week.

Lets see how much I like their performance before I shell out the big bucks to catch them live at the Garden in NYC.

Yes..tickets are a tad out of line.
One site I looked at the starting price for Cream tix was $3100. For that kind of money I'd expect them to be playing in my living room !
I recall paying something like $5 to see Cream in the 60's. (ok I'm dating myself) Inflation !
Saw McCartney's 2nd tour at $62.50, last one was $250+. Owww
We all have to eat, but who pays 3000+ for a 3 hour show ?
Like Kevin, I think I'll get the DVD.
Kind of a shame the only posted dates for Cream in the US is in New York.

No problem...I pre-ordered mine today from Deepdiscountdvd.com for <$20.

I'm pissed at the greedy money-grubbers out there that find it necessary to hoard tickets and then gouge people who really wanna go. Tickets sold out in 18mins! Judging by StubHub, most of those tickets weren't sold to fans who just wanna see the show. I guess with the one-run USA stint, we've been set-up for this. Perhaps Messrs. Clapton, Baker and Bruce should have retained control a la the Boss in order to prevent this from happening.

Oh well, I guess we should consider ourselves lucky that they're together again and that they're coming here at all, even if most of us won't be able to afford to go.

The DVD is here. Good sound, Stormy Monday is a definate highlight. They also play one of my personal favorites, Pressed Rat and Warthog without the french horns and recorders though. Jack looks frail and sits a lot but who wouldn't having just had a liver transplant. He smiles throughout the whole video. It seems as if all three are having a great time. Ginger even does a T Shirt commercial. The camera work is a little distracting. They try for a lot of unique type shots like through the drum hardware. Another example, on the song Sweet Wine Jack is playing his EB1 and the editors slip in a close up of the LEDs from his Thumb Bass. Little things like that are minor overall. It's Cream, they're together and sound great. A little less energetic and not as much stamina for the long jams but very satisfying. Well worth it.

Ah, Sam beat me to it! I haven't been home in a few days as I'm watching a friend's house, so I may have gotten my copy and don't even realize it.

I hope I don't like the vid as much as Sam...my credit card will be hurting from those gouge-ariffic scalper prices over at stubhub, LOL!

The current issue of Guitar World (Dimebag Darryl and his brother on the cover- get shot, get famous) has an interview with Messrs Clapton, Bruce, and Baker. My London DVD just arrived. It's going to be a creamy weekend.

Thanks for the tip Bill. That's not a magazine I regularly read but will check it out. Cream to me is like the Dead to so many here.
Enjoy your weekend.

Got my DVD today and am enjoying same while I write this. Looks like I may have to seriously dent the 'ole credit card for the MSG shows, LOL!

Physically, these boys have seen better days, but they still sound pretty damn good for a 37yr. hiatus, LOL!

Pressed Rat and Warthog Collection of Dog Legs and Feet, indeed!

Cheers,

BTW, I also had deepdiscountdvd.com include that "other" Royal Albert Hall Cream DVD the 'Cream Farewell Concert" from '68. Not bad for 1968: sound and pix quality are acceptable and the new "Extended" version includes extra footage not originally included in the original documentary. Recommended!

I have both the Farewell Concert and Strange Brew DVDs. My gripe with them is the editors like to get all psychedelic with the live footage and that makes it hard to see.
