The Keeley Bassist compressor is the first compressor that I liked. It's a little different than other units I have used. They say it's a voltage control amplifier vs a standard compressor. It's small and very easy to setup, has simple controls, and sounds very natural. I really don't like the term transparent, but it is. It doesn't add any noise at regular settings and if the threshold is set slightly higher, it only affects the strongest signals; the ones I was hoping to tame. Drop the threshold a bit and you can go from playing softly to digging in without it getting super loud. Our sound guy at church really likes it and wants to get one for the other church he does sound for. Highly recommended.
