If anyone's interested I saw a very nice looking used Alembic Elan 4 string at the Guitar Center in Nashua NH. It had a type of sunburst black grey color but of course you could see the nice wood through the finish. Looked like a "P J" pick-up set up very similar to the 88 Persuader I use to own. They were asking around $1600 for it. A little pricy but my experience with this store tells me you could probably get it for around $1300. (Ask to talk with Will the assistant manager to hagel with the price. Tell him Ray sent ya!;-) If I didn't already have my SC 4 string I'd probably deal for this bass myself ... looks sweet!

Hey Ray,

I played it last week and it's a cool bass. I bet if you offered cash they might even come down more.
Are you in the area often. I'm now up in Litchfield. I was in Lowell up until May.

Peace,
Dino

Hi Dino,
Actually I live in Hudson NH now. I moved there last December when i got re-married. I tend to go to the GC a little too often for my wallet. Play 4 instruments so there's never a shortage of toys i want. Did you see the 12 string Megatar there? It's a touch instrument like a Chapman Stick. I traded that for a Modulus Quantim 5 string fretless. I'll check out your web site and come see you play sometime. (If your schedule is posted.) I play with a three piece rock band right now called One Fine Mess. We have a few weekends off but our web schedule is "more or less" up to date. We tend to play a few gigs a month just for fun. One gig we're doing the weekend of October 21 & 22 isn't posted. It's at a small place called The Fireside in Methuen. The place is a dinky bar but we have fun there. The band website is onefinemess.com. The information was put in before I started playing Alembics so it doesn't list them. I had three but because of money issues I'm down to one Alembic. A Stanley Clark Standard. Of course I have the Modulus fretless and a cheap Ibanez 5 string for those gigs I don't trust my expensive equipment on. Anyway I'll check out your site, we should meet sometime!

Hey Dino ... I see that you're playing at Princeton Station in Chelmsford on Oct. 8th. (where is that? What street?) I'm not gigging that evening so I'll try to make it up there and introduce myself to you. Looks like you have a good musical career happening, good for you pal! I use to play full time living on the road in the deep dark 70s but since the 80s it's been a part time "fun" thing for me. I'd love to strictly play for a living again however I hated living out of my suit case. To each their own I guess. Anyway I'll try to check you out and say hi.

Take care
Ray

Thanks for the address info! It's funny to find other members right around the corner from me. I had no idea there were that many Alembic players in northern MA and southern NH ... kwel!

Hey All,
Sorry I've been absent from the board for so long. Believe me it's not that I don't love you guys. I've been real busy as of late and a lot of the hotels I've been staying in have had really bad Wi-Fi connections.
That is the correct address. Thanks Dave!!!! Yeah I'll be there on the 8th. Please come on down if you can make it. I'll buy you a beer or two.
My Brother Paul, I'm still playing my brother. I hope to come over soon. I've been trying to get them to send me to some of these European trade shows. Nothing yet though.

Ray, I know the Fireside pretty well. I'll have to come down and check it out. I'll keep an eye on your website to see where you gigging.

Peace,
Dino

Dino, that date at the Fireside may have changed to the 14th and 15th. The guitarist i work with's son is a 10 year old drummer who's exceptional and he plays with two other young kids who also rock. They may be playing a freebee desaster relief gig in Framingham and the guitarist i work with has to be there to support his son's band if they do. They love my band OFM at The Fireside so we may cancel or change our dates so his sons band can do the freebee. (these kids are frightning ... they pull off Rush and UK tunes) Lucky for us October is largely open so we can shuffle this gig if needed. However I'm 99% sure i'm free on the 8th and fully intend to come down and say hi!
