Nobody dances to a guitar shred solo do they ? I have always said, the bass & drums are the engine of the band, without them the vehicle stops! Anyone doubting that listen to "BaddAsses' on Stan's 'The Toys of Men' album and you will see what I mean |

I will probably be ostracized severely for this but Terry brings up a point I have made with many a band who want to play Alright Now as part of the set list. Yes even with a bass solo I hate playing that song at a bar gig where folks dance. If you watch the audience they always stop dancing when it is just the guitar. After that it is hard to get them back in the same groove as before we played it. While I've lost some of the arguments most are swayed when you get them to really pay attention to what the audience is doing as opposed to the rest of us on stage. Keith |

Keith, we play Billy Squire "Everybody Wants You" then go right in to All Right Now, & both songs pack the floor! Our singer uses the break on All Right Now to introduce the band introducing each of us as we come in on the break. This video was shot right after we got this singer & before she started doing the full band intro, she just introduced the drummer, but you can see the floor stays packed! http://youtu.be/qWD9rLosYLE |

All Right Now also has a pretty driving drum part. IMO, it's the drums that first get 'em moving and the bass seals the deal. I've played it on guitar and on bass in different projects and my experience has been it's a sure bet to pack the dance floor. Rusty - that's a good medley, BTW. I'll have to mention that to my bandmates! |

I agree David, it's the drums on All Right Now that drives the dancers! It's one of those songs like Play That Funky Music that always packs the floor. |

We played All Righ Now last night at a gig. I always play bass through the entire song and don't leave the guitar to play by itself. It is a great song. |
