Dave, I've been following Rocco's recoverery too. I had the good fortune many years ago to take a lesson from him. Oddly, I had'nt heard any of his recordings(no, I'm not a hermit!)before we met-which was a good thing. If I had, I would'nt have taken my bass out of it's case! He was a very humble guy. He showed me some really cool right hand plucking/left hand muting techniques. A few days later, While attending his performance with my friends, he came over and said hello during a break which was very nice on his part. He was sitting in with a local band-who had a great bass player-but once he started playing..man, what a groove-God! I hope he gets well soon. I've read that Bobby Vega has sat in for him on a few TOP dates-he's a monster too!
