Here are a couple of pix from the Phil and Friends set earlier this evening at Vegoose. Great show - with a particularly amazing "The Eleven." Joan Osborne sounded great and Warren Haynes joined festivities after his Gov't Mule set on another stage and sang a sizzling "Shakedown Street." Also notable was Barry Sless on the pedal steel. There will be a lot more amazing music tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to The Meters set. Tom |

Thanks for the pix, Tom! I don't think I'm getting all those guys for my PLAF show, but I'm looking forward to it nonetheless. Another three weeks, and Lesh is more! LOL! Cheers, Kevin |

Kevin - I expect you won't see Warren as Gov't Mule is also currently touring and I'm not sure about Joan Osborn, but I believe Barry Sless and Jimmy Herring will be on the Winter tour. Also, I believe John Molo and Mookie Seigel will be there instead of Jeff Sipe and Rob Barraco. At any rate, Phil was pretty much the highlight of Vegoose for me. The Meters also tore the place up, appearing with their original personnel (Art Neville, George Porter, Zigaboo Modeliste and Leo Nocentelli). No photos of the Meters as none of my shots turned out well, but here's a shot of the colorful Vegoose crowd listening and dancing during the North Mississippi Allstars set. Today is a day of recovery =) Cheers, Tom |

Could have been a board feed, Jeff - but there were a fair amount of tapers at all of the stages too, especially the main stage where Phil played. I know for sure there were a bunch of Vegas locals taping and someone may have put something up already. I'm sure a lot of the sets will turn up before long. Taping and "non-professional" photography was encouraged at the festival - there was a very nice and comfortable vibe in the air. Tom |

Supposedly, it's Mookie and Molo along with with SGS Chris Robinson from the Black Crowes. I'm hoping they do that great extended version of "Unbroken Chain" that's on Phil's website as a special birthday gift to your's truly, LOL!. |

Take a hop, skip and a jump across the pond, Graeme. With the value of the pound, you denizens of the UK are in the catbird seat. Come to the States to see how the other (poor) half lives, LOL! |

Trouble is, Mrs J wouldn't let me come to the states without the family and when you're talking about 5 people that starts to get expensive ;-( I reckon I'll not be across till I've put three kids through college and saved enough for my next Alembic. then, I'll be across to the west coast like a shot. Graeme, don't forget to stop over on the East Coast during that future visit. BA flys direct from Gatwick to Orlando. |

Ha! We did the Gatwick to Orlando flight in '99. Had a 4 hour wait in departures as the flight was delayed;-( Arrived in Orlando in the dark, picked up the vehicle - there were 7 of us (my parents came) so it was a minibus. First time driving an automatic, first time driving on the 'wrong' side of the road, missed the first turn onto the freeway to Kissimee and ended up going all the way round Orlando to get back to the villa we were renting - about 11pm by the time we got sorted;-( Luckily the owners were very understanding. The only shows we got to see involved a whole host of disney characters. Next time I come it'll just be me and the Mrs so we'll be able to take in the culture alot more. Graeme |

Kevin - from Jambands.com re: Phil and Friends Larry Campbell To Sub For Jimmy Herring Phil Lesh has confirmed that guitarist Larry Campbell will be joining his upcoming tour, stepping in for Jimmy Herring. In an announcement on his web site Lesh states, “I had originally planned to mix up the lineup after New Years- but it turns out that, in order to take advantage of other musical opportunities that have come his way, Jimmy Herring will now be moving on a little earlier. I¹m sure that his new musical experiences will result in further growth, which is vital to a musician.” Campbell performed in Bob Dylan’s band from 1997 through 2004, and Lesh likely saw him quite a bit during Phil & Friends/ Dylan co-bills that took place in 1999 and 2000. At present Herring has not yet released the details of his future plans. TZ |

Thanks Tom. I hadn't seen that tidbit, and I was just recently on Phil's site (love that live "Unbroken Chain", LOL!). I just visited there again, and viola! Herring's dissappeared, and Larry Campbell's appeared, LOL! Phil explains in a site entry listed yesterday (11/8) as paraphrased by Tom above. |
