Just been watching some vintage George Benson video's from before he went all commercial and came across this one. Towards the end when the bass solo comes on you can see the bassie is playing what looks like a Spoiler. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jdH1T8hc9c |

I remember seeing him live twice back in the 70's (with Seawind as the opener) and his bass player used some kind of Gibson Ripper back then. What a great player George is! The Gibson bass did not have what I would call a great sound to it, but it fitted in exactly with George's band and overall sound. |

Great video! It seems like in some of it George is channeling a bit of Albert Collins. What a monstrous talent he is. |

And as for George Benson - he is a monster. He never went commercial. Commercial came to him. |

Yeah George is awesome player I guess got to know his music in the mid 70's when he did more guitar playing than singing and the commercial route he took did nothing for me but did great things for his popularity and bank account. I saw him on tour here in the 70's just when that particular track came out as a single which was before all that change in direction happened and never been to see him since. But I do love that song. |
