Our current lead singer (we're in the midst of a friendly transition) plays one. It's not terrible, but I was a bluegrass picker who lived for the old bass cannons, and new Larivees once upon a time. It's not quite on of those, but easier on the wallet. |

I've borrowed a friend's Yamaha Silent Bass for gigs a few times. It sounds amazing, and is probably the most comfortable upright I've ever played. I just watched "Slowhand At 70: Live at the Royal Albert Hall" on the local PBS station and Nathan East plays one on most of the ballads. Here he is playing a particular excruciating note:
