I've been an "alembician" for about 1 1/2 years now...
I've had the good fortune of not only having a custom made for me, but also being chosen as a cotm and now a member of a very select group.
It's hard to describe the feelings when you look in the archive and see YOUR bass

I've made so many friends in this site. Bill, kevin, pace, ctjim, jacko, and of course val, mica and susan just to name a few...and if i left out your name,i sorry
It really does feel like "family"

Good fortune has shined on me this year. maybe it makes up for the long, winding and sometimes difficult road this life has had me on....and the roads i chose to travel

I WANT TO WISH YOU AND ALL YOUR LOVED ONES A HAPPY,HEALTHY HOLIDAY SEASON...

dreams do come true...please don't never give up....

When there was no strings to play, you played to me.

regards
jeff

Merry Christmahannukwanzukah!

I was going to try the twelve days of Alembic Christmas, but I didn't get much past:

12 calls to Valentino

Ha!

Thanks to the elves:

Valentino for putting up with my phone calls,
Susan for getting those inlays "just right"
Mica for not getting mad at the spelling nazi.
All the elves in the shop for making the best instruments around.

All the best to you too Jeff, have a good holiday. My holiday season starts on the 24th and ends on the 28th - not much rest for the wicked I'm afraid;-(

Thanks Jeff, also for opening this round of good wishes. May y'all enjoy a great holiday season with your loved ones. Hopefully next year will bring love, happiness, great music and beautiful 'tools' to create that music. I personally have decided to focus on progression, creativity and enjoying music instead of hunting for new gear, but one could never know what next year will bring...

Take care,

And a Happy New Year to all! May 2006 bring good tax refunds and bonuses that we can spend on Furthers and tickets to Ratdog, Phil, and DSO.

Sorry for the delay...our Legal Department just approved the following Holiday Greeting:

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non- addictive, gender neutral, celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious! secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all . . . and a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2006, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great, (not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country or is the only “AMERICA” in the western hemisphere), and without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith, or choice of computer platform of the wishee.
By accepting this greeting, you are accepting these terms: This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transfer able with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for her/himself or others, and is void where prohibited by law, and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher. This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period of one year, or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty is limited to replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher.

They're not aware that the "winter solstice" bit prejudices people from the tropics who by sheer bad luck have no such thing? Someone's heart must bleed - or their wallet.

Only save the spruces. The others aren't great tone wood and all that sap will never dry enough to glue anything to them.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Seasons Greetings to all!

Festivus for the rest of us! Bring on the aluminum pole! Air those grievances! Get ready for the feats of strength! Tomorrow, December 23rd is Festivus. So put on your puffy shirt and go out and make a contibution to the Human Fund. Mr. Costanza would be proud! (nyuk nyuk).

Thanks Dave. I was wondering where I could find a pole since they are not likely to show up on your local Christmas tree lot and Home Depot doesn't carry the stand. :-)

I guess I'm just a cultural moron. What's the pole for? The bar next door to my shop has a couple of stainless steel poles but I doubt it's for the same purpose.

Aluminium or stainless steel - who cares, it's just another May Pole in the dead of winter. Why the ladies take off most, if not all of their clothes when dancing around the stainless steel one, is beyond me.

Which brings me to another unrelated point: who do we contact to suggest using "May Pole" as an alternative to the "may pulling" we've been getting when translating Japanese websites devoted to Alembic?

Sam:

The Festivus aluminum pole is a symbolic protest against the commercialism of xmas as represented by the tree festooned with ornaments. The bar stainless steel pole, on the other hand, may be seen as a symbolic celebration of primal urge as represented by the g-string festooned with paper currency!

Adriaan:

Have you been hanging out with "Aileen Bic" lately?

I wanted to send out some sort of holiday greeting to my fellow musicians here on the Alembic site, but it is
so difficult in today's world to know exactly what to say without offending
someone. So I met with my solicitor today, and on his advice (and after £299
in solicitor's fees) I wish to say the following:

" Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for
an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress,
non-addictive, gender neutral, celebration of the winter solstice holiday,
practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion
of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the
religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or their choice
not to practice religious or secular traditions at all.

I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and
medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted
calendar year 2006, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice
of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make Britain
great(not to imply that Britain is necessarily greater than any other country or
is the only "Britain" in the western hemisphere), and without regard to the
race, creed, colour, age, physical ability, religious faith (or lack of
one), or sexual preference of the wishee.

By accepting this greeting, you are accepting these terms:
1.This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal.
2.It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no
promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for her/himself or others, and is void where prohibited by law, and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher.
3. This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period of one year, or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty is limited to replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher.

Disclaimer:
No trees were harmed in the sending of this message, however, a significant
number of electrons were inconvenienced."

Oh stuff it...here it goes

HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!
and Have a great time in 2006.

On this Christmas Eve eve let me add my sincerest wishes for peace and prosperity to each of you. As Michael so aptly said, all of the extraneous elements aside, we're all the same and in the long run related.
