The 2005-released DVD DiMeola/Clarke/Ponty Live At Montreux 1994" is for you if you're a fan of Stanley's (or the other two for that matter). It's the acoustic "Rites Of Strings" trio playing an unrehearsed live show at the '94 Montreux Jazz Festival. Awesome playing by all three...nice compositions...and to say neither of the three is short on chops would be an understatement. Even though Stanley leaves his Alembic's behind for this one, he is simply stunning on upright string bass. Get this one...it's cheap...$11 from deepdiscountdvd.com....Highly Recommended! Cheers, Kevin I'm listening now as I type this...nice music for a cold Xmas eve night! |

Thanks Kevin; I've thought about that one before. I've added it to my wish list on your recommendation. Another very nice Stanley upright DVD is Chick Corea - A Very Special Concert. Highly recommended as well! |

hee, hee, I have both of those dvd's I got them on ebay earlier this year. They are excellent. I prefer the Very special concert one though as its the RTF guys with Joe Henderson on sax. There is a lot of personality and playfulness in that gig, its a real pleasure to see such talented musicians playing and clearly enjoying themselves. jazz doesn't have to be hard faced tight lipped musicians and bulging cheeks and eyes. They are both well worth buying. If anyone knows of a Return to forever concert DVD/Video I'd be grateful if you could let me know where to get it from. Jazzyvee |

Thanks, guys. Yeah, I'm a Chick fan as well...I even liked that Frank Gambale/John Pattiticci stuff as well, LOL! (i.e., CC Elektric/Akoustic Band Cd's). I'll keep my eyes peeled for RTF, JV. Cheers, Kevin |

I'm a Corea fan too (one of these days I'm going to get Spain on the set list), and a big RTF fan (every once in a while I think it would be fun to work up an arrangement of Space Circus). I have not yet seen an RTF (classic lineup) DVD; but I'll keep my eyes open too! |

I had spain on my set list about 2 years ago when I was doing some live sessions with a very talented South African singer who was doing some Al Jarreau covers. I did get a Chick Corea Elektric band Live at Montreau 2004 DVD on a recent trip to Amsterdam. http://shopping.yahoo.com/p:Live%20in%20Montreux%202004:1922263832; A great concert with some awesome playing by all the band but somehow lacks the fire and the on-stage fun that they had in the earlier days of the band.
